Becoming a Bereavement Doula

Whether you’re ready, unsure, or simply curious, we've put together a thoughtful guide to help you discern the path that’s right for you.

Where to Begin

Bereavement work is meaningful, but also demanding in many sometimes unexpected ways. We want you to understand the realities of this path so you can make the most informed and thoughtful decision for your future.

step 1

Consider the Role

Before investing in training, you should take time to deeply consider the role. Our free assessment is designed to provide thoughtful insights into the realities of bereavement work, and to help you discern if it's the right fit for you.

step 2

Complete a Training

Once you've carefully considered what the work entails, it's time to learn the practical skills and techniques that will equip you for bereavement work with loss families. Our Haven Bereavement Doula Training is a six-week, research-based course that covers the foundations of supporting families through miscarriage, stillbirth, and infant loss.

STEP 3 (for some)

Become a Certified Bereavement Doula

While certification is not required, it does provide the highest level of research-based, grief-informed, and professional bereavement doula training along with access to our exclusive member benefits.

testimonial

"Haven created such a safe, supportive space to learn how to walk with others through grief. That can feel scary or overwhelming, but Abby made it approachable.

One of the most powerful lessons was learning that our role isn’t to fix or protect people from their grief, but to be present with them in it."
